The San Carlos Thunder soccer team from San Carlos is embarking on an ambitious trip this coming summer. This Under-15 soccer team, which is part of the San Carlos United Soccer Club, normally competes in California Youth Soccer Association (CSYA) and US Club Soccer (USCS) sanctioned leagues. But this coming summer, they hope to travel to England to train with and play soccer against some of Great Britain’s professional clubs.

The plan is for them to play matches against academy club teams from these professional clubs: Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace. They will also participate in training sessions with professional coaches from professional clubs located throughout England. One of the training sessions will be with a professional London Club, possibly Charlton Athletic Football Club. The second training session will take place in Chester with the Manchester United Football Club, and the last training session will take place with a professional North West club, possibly Liverpool F.C. Academy.

What's needed to make this dream a reality? Funds. Althought the team has been diligently raising money all year long, they still help reaching their fund rasing goals. If you're interested in helping, here are a couple of ways:

  • Snack Shack: The team is running a great snack shack at all Saturday and Sunday games at Highlands Park. We've hit this one already a bunch of times, and I can tell you that Alex flips a mean cheeseburger.
  • Direct donations: Dave Kellogg has instructions on his blog that make it really easy to donate to the cause, either by check or through PayPal. Click here for details –> Dave's Blog

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these kids. I hope you can help them make it a reality.
