San Carlos Development, Home Remodeling, and a New Poll….

Poll Results

The topic of choice lately on this site has been about the development of Downtown San Carlos.    With projects like 1001 Laurel nearing completion and Wheeler Plaza on the drawing board, the downtown area of San Carlos is in for some significant change.     At the suggestion of one of the blog readers, the last poll was created to get a feel for how you felt about these development plans.    Since many of the comments on the blog have been “anti-development,”  I expected the poll voting reflect this opinion as well.   But the opposite happened — here are the results:

Do you approve of the new developments (Wheeler Plaza and/or Transit Village) that are planned for downtown San Carlos?

  • Yes, I think it's great for San Carlos (58%, 35 Votes)
  • No, I'm opposed to the plan. (38%, 23 Votes)
  • I don't care….it's the City's property. (3%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 60

More San Carlos residents appear to be pro-development than I thought.   I guess that's why polls are useful!  It will be interesting to see where things go with the Wheeler Plaza Development (stay tuned for a blog update later this week) and other development plans that are in the works for downtown.  In the meantime, let's do another poll….

A New Poll:  Remodeling Your Home

I had some fun with this one on my Emerald Hills Blog site.    Let's say you just won $100,000 in a contest, and the only stipulation is that you must spend the money on home improvement.  Which projects would you do?   Check out the poll in the left side-bar and vote on up to TWO projects where you would spend that money.   Dream big, and have fun!

Does anyone have the skinny on this house in Belmont

$479,000 for a larger home in belmont seems too good to be true

Chuck, you should add solar panels to the improvement list. That would be my second choice.

    Keith,

Great suggestion — it’s now part of the poll. Thanks!

    Luca,

That home is an REO, and has been “red-tagged” by the City of Belmont because it was illegally converted to a multi-residential unit. It’s going to take quite a bit of modification (and $$) before the City will allow anyone to live in it again. Possibly a bulldozer is in its future???

    Thanks for the question.
