Redwood City Costco: Set to re-open on October 21.
Did you ever notice that you don’t realize how much you depend on something until it’s taken away? That’s essentially what happened when the Redwood City Costco closed it’s doors late last year to undergo a massive renovation. We spend so much money every year at this place that our car could probably drive itself there, so it was a huge adjustment to suddenly not have this store available. The Foster City store handled the overflow as best it could, but that place has serious layout issues, not to mention a funky parking lot. So, like many other San Carlos residents, I was thrilled to hear that the construction is nearing completion, and the doors will re-open next week.
Grand re-opening: Wednesday, October 21.
At 8:00 in the morning next Wednesday, the doors will swing open and you’ll get to see the new Costco. According to Costco, this warehouse will be bigger than its predecesor, and will now feature a gas station and rotisserie chicken. I’m sure there will be numerous other improvements too, but who cares at this point. I’m just glad to have it back…. just in time for early Holiday shopping!

I thought it was san carlos that was getting an In-n-out

Actually, it’s both. In-N-Out already has plans to build a restaurant on Veterans Boulevard where the Baker’s Square currently is. This is strange, because it always seemed to me that In-N-Out’s strategy was to keep a little distance between their locations to keep the supply/demand in their favor. It’s rare to see them in adjacent communities. But if things go as planned, that’s what will happen. Hey, better for those who need their fix!

I guess you have missed the Costco for so long that it seemed like late last year. They only closed in April, 6 months ago.

Freddie,
Thanks for catching that. You’re absolutely right. I even wrote a post about the closing in the Emerald Hills Blog Redwood City Costco to Close for Renovations that was dated in April, so I should have caught that. Hats off to W.L. Butler Construction for completing the entire project (demolition to re-opening) in 6 months!
It sure seemed like it was longer, probably because we spend WAY too much money there
