A Mountain Lion in San Carlos?

by Chuck Gillooley

A Sighting in San Carlos.

Yep, that’s indeed the case, according to this report from ABC News.   Last night at around 10:30PM, a mountain lion (not the one in this picture) was spotted near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Tamarack Avenue.   Mountain lion sightings have been occurring with more frequency lately in outlying areas such as Portola Valley, Woodside, and Emerald Hills.   But a sighting this far into the flatlands is a relative rarity, and I’m sure it’s more than a little unnerving to neighbors in that area.

For more information about Mountain Lions, visit this link on the Department of Fish and Game Website:  Mountain Lions.   And let’s be careful out there!

  • The joke about cougars is pretty tasteless. Way to keep it classy.

    • Dave,

My apologies if my attempt at a little humor offended you. Just trying to inject a little levity into what has been a steady stream of bad-news posts lately. The joke has been removed.

  • I guess we need a joke now and then and I’m sure we all appreciate the heads-up about the sighting. Hopefully this cat will be captured before it can harm any humans or our pets. Since we are near this location, I know I will be very cautious when walking our dogs.

    Thank you Chuck
