Exceptional San Carlos Homes: 2985 Eaton Avenue

2985-Eaton-Avenue

Another New Series.

One of the benefits of having a hyper-local focus on San Carlos is that I make a point of physically touring each and every home that is listed for sale in San Carlos.  While I am pretty diligent about sticking to this task every week, there will always be a few homes that I just don't get to see — namely, those that sell off market.   But generally, I'll see just about every house that's listed.

In the course of touring all of these homes, I come across some pretty unique and spectacular houses that I sure didn't know existed before until I toured them.  These are homes that are quite different from our bread-and-butter 3BR/2BA homes that are a staple in San Carlos.  So the light bulb clicked on again — what about a series that's dedicated to showcasing these homes?   Enter “Exceptional San Carlos Homes“.

2985 Eaton Avenue.

The inaugural home to be featured in this series is 2985 Eaton Avenue.  This remarkable home is located near the very top of Eaton Avenue, a part of  San Carlos that many folks seem to never venture up to.  And it's too bad, because upper Eaton sports some remarkable scenery, and is also the entry point to Eaton Park — one of San Carlos' hidden gems.   Currently listed at $1,995,000 by Maxine Dumas of Dumas & Company in San Carlos, this is a grand home on all counts:  5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, 4,300 square feet of living space, and a 3-car garage.

This home is nestled against Eaton Park on two parcels that add up to nearly 16,000 square feet of land, so it's nice and private.  As you can see from the virtual tour, the rooms are very generously sized, and the layout is intelligent — it uses the square footage very well, without wasting lots of it on the show factor that some big houses do.  A good example of this is one of my favorite features of the home — the bonus room that's attached to the master bedroom.  This room can be used for just about anything — a nursery, an exercise room, or a home office.   That's a smart use of space.

Like to cook?  You'll have everything you need in this kitchen to indulge your craft:

There's a nice balance that's carried between elegance and comfort.  Some homes are so grand that they seem almost too formal, but this home is equally adept at hosting a formal holiday party as it is bumming around on a Saturday morning.

Take a Tour.

Along with the virtual tour, Maxine and her team have filmed a walking video tour of the home, which gives you a better perspective of all of the great features of this exceptional San Carlos home:

Nice house if you have no kids. But why do you need 5 bedrooms then? Paying 2 millions for a house with low-API-scored Redwood City schools does not look like a good deal to me. On the other hand if you have 2 millions on you hands you can probably pay for private schools.

Thanks for your comment. I think many of the residents who live in Alder Manor would beg to differ from your assessment, though. Every family I have ever spoken with about Clifford School has given it nothing but high marks.

And as far as the area in general, Alder Manor has some of the largest lots and homes in all of San Carlos — things you won’t likely find in White Oaks or Howard Park.

Nice house; if we were looking I would consider it. Plus Renter, we have no children and are only 2 people, yet would use every square foot of that house. Why would you automatically assume the buyers would have children or are as concerned as you are about the schools? it’s a nice, quiet area with large lots as Chuck mentioned.
