Support Coordinated Through Facebook Page.
In the wee hours of this past Sunday morning, a fast-moving fire raged through the Kuramoto residence on St. Francis Way in San Carlos. According to news reports, by the time the family was able to scramble to safety, the entire garage and kitchen were fully involved in fire. Thankfully everyone escaped from the home safely, but the damage rendered their home uninhabitable, and the fire claimed almost all of their belongings. In the end, damage was estimated to be nearly $500,000.
The swift outpouring of support from the San Carlos community has been wonderful and extremely generous in this time of crisis for the Kuramoto family. As you can imagine there are still many opportunities to help — the question is what to do and when. To help coordinate some of the efforts, residents have created a Facebook page for the community. The purpose of this page is to:
- Establish a place where the community can post messages of support to Jasmine, Randall, Reece and Jules.
- Provide central space for anyone to seek volunteers for various needs.
- Link an option to collect donations for the family.
- Keep folks in the loop on how the Kuramoto’s are doing and if there is anything they can do to help.
The link to the site is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kuramoto-Family-Update/189746384417399?sk=wall
Once you are on the page, you can click the “like” button and then post messages. Neighbors and friends will be working with the Kuramotos to identify the best ways to help them both in the next few days/weeks as well as over the coming months. Please leverage the Facebook site to share your messages of support and to learn more about how you can help the family.
It’s in trying times like these that you truly understand why San Carlos is such a great community to be a part of.
