Election-2011

Call for Candidates.

Yesterday, San Carlos City Clerk Christine Boland formally announced the City's intention to hold a general election on Tuesday November 8 for two city council seats and one treasurer position, and opened the doors for interested parties to submit their paperwork.  Candidates for any of the above positions have until Friday August 12 to submit the necessary documents to be included in the upcoming election.

If early indications are accurate, there may be 6-10 candidates vying for just two city council seats.  This is in stark contrast to the last election to fill a city council seat, when now-Mayor Andy Klein ran unopposed for the single seat.  It's great to see so much renewed interest in civic duty, and it should make for some interesting weeks of campaigning leading up to the election in November.

If you're interested in throwing your hat in the ring for any of these positions, all of the details about the election as well as the list of qualifications and the links to the documentation, can be found on the election page on the City of San Carlos website.

Chuck — please don’t forget that this is also a year of a San Carlos school board election. Two seats are up for election, those of Seth Rosenblatt (me) and Tom Quiqqle. I have already filed my papers to run for re-relection. Unlike the city council seats, all of the information for this election — and information on how to file — is handled by the San Mateo County Elections office. You can get to their web site at http://www.shapethefuture.org.

There were 3 seats open last election, not one.
