The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 11/7/2016.

The tempo of the real estate market in San Carlos remained fairly high over the past seven days, and this is on the heels of two very strong weeks.  Seven more homes were snapped up and that served to drive the inventory level back down to only 17 homes for sale in the entire city. As one would expect, the rate of new listings is starting to taper off as some home sellers opt to wait until after the holidays to put their home on the market.

That's not to say that selling a home over the holidays is not a good idea. With reduced inventory comes reduced competition for sellers, and while some home buyers will take a break for the holidays, there is still a very large contingency of willing and able buyers who won't be deterred by the holiday season. There is a fair amount of uncertainty looking forward into 2017, with the election tomorrow and the specter of the Fed raising interest rates again in December.  Risk averse sellers may take the “bird in hand” philosophy and not wait to see what the climate will look like next year.
