San Carlos AYSO registration: It’s this week.

The Best Youth Sports Program in San Carlos.

No slight intended to the other outstanding youth sports programs in San Carlos, but in my book San Carlos AYSO is the best youth sports organization in all of San Carlos — and believe me, I have been involved in just about all of them at one point or another.    My roots in AYSO run very deep — as a coach, board member, and referee.

Oh yes, even as a player….

(If you hadn't figured it out, I'm the goofy looking goal keeper in the stripes.  But in the spirit of “equal opportunity embarrassment”, the lad to my left in those cool orange knee-pads is none other than Bill Crook of Preferred Property Inspection.)

It's all about Being Positive..

What separates AYSO from other sports organizations is their unwavering commitment to placing “fun” ahead of “competition” in their dictionary.   Not that your typical AYSO games don't get competitive, but the core values of this organization are summed up in these five philosophies:

These five points aren't just marketing fluff — they are foundation behind everything this organization does, and its dedicated volunteers definitely “walk the walk” with respect to these core values.   That's why it's such a great environment, whether it's 6-year old who is playing for the first time, or a high school student who needs a fun league to keep their skills sharp.

Registration is Upon Us.

Registration for the fall 2009 AYSO season starts this week.   Here are the dates:

• Wednesday, April 29th, 7:00 PM  to 9:00 PM @ the Youth Center Gym
• Saturday, May 2nd, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM @ the Youth Center Gym
• Wednesday, May 6th, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM @ the Youth Center Gym

Important note on registration:  You must pre-register your player at the eAYSO Site in advance.  You'll then print out a registration form that you bring to one of the above registration sessions.   (You can sometimes do this at the registration, but it's highly advisable to do this at home if you want to save time.)
