Looking for Volunteer Opportunities?
Are you interested in volunteering your time for a good cause in San Carlos, but don't have a clue what do to, or where to start? That's exactly the problem that White Oaks resident Dena Myers faced this past year. After moving to White Oaks nearly 5 years ago and completely falling in love with her neighborhood and community, she felt compelled to give something back. But with small kids, a teenager and a hectic schedule, it wasn't easy to find family-appropriate volunteer opportunities that fit their needs. So she took matters into her own hands…
Introducing “Make a Difference in San Carlos”
Utilizing the web service Meetup.com, Dena has created a dedicated page for volunteering right here at home:
Make a Difference in San Carlos.
This special-purpose social-network site makes it simple for people to suggest ideas for volunteering, organize an event, or even connect with other meet-up groups in the area. One idea that Dena is considering as the inaugural event is delivering flowers from our own Farmer's Market and hand-made cards to residents at the San Carlos Elms. How cool is that?
So be sure to check out Make a Difference in San Carlos. There is no obligation to participate in any specific activity upon joining — the group simply offers opportunities for community involvement. But it's easy to see how a small group of people can make a big difference in our town.

Great idea. Have you connected with San Carlos Together? It sounds like your missions are about the same, and they’ve been doing it for several years, have tax-exempt status, etc.
There are also a number of opportunities to volunteer in the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.
