“Rebuilding Together Peninsula” Lends A Helping Hand in San Carlos.

Pitching in to Help Those In Need.
If you were driving around San Carlos today, you may have noticed a home on Howard Avenue that had large dumpster, a big tent, and a whole lot of activity in the front yard. Now while that accurately describes my idea of the perfect garage sale (especially the LARGE dumpster part), this was anything but that. Rebuilding Together Peninsula, the local chapter of the national non-profit organization Rebuilding Together, is a group that organizes volunteers and sponsors to help rehabilitate the homes of aging, disabled, and low-income residents all around the Peninsula.
And today, a whole team of their volunteers converged on this home in San Carlos to work their magic:
A Great Opportunity to Volunteer
Construction Project Coordinator Al Zayha and his crew of volunteers sweated it out in the hot sun all day today, as they selflessly dedicated their entire Saturday to clearing out brush and sprucing up the exterior of this home. This all by itself was an amazing act of kindness by this organization, but I was especially impressed to see so many young volunteers who gave up part of their weekend to make this San Carlos resident's day. The teenagers and twenty-somethings were there in big numbers today and were working up a good sweat.
On that not-so-subtle hint, if you're looking for a great volunteer opportunity for yourself or your bored teenager this summer, this seems like a great way to help others. For more information on Rebuilding Together Peninsula, check out their website.
And a BIG thanks to the whole Howard Avenue crew — your good deeds were noticed by many today.
