Jeff Maltbie Set to Take San Carlos City Manager Position.

March 11, 2011

Position Offered.

After a nation-wide search that spanned nearly half a year, the City of San Carlos has officially offered the position of City Manager to Jeff Maltbie, who is currently serving as interim-City manager of San Carlos after the retirement of Mark Weiss.  According to this article in the San Jose Mercury News, it is likely that Maltbie will accept the offer and remove the interim role from his title.

This seems to be the safe and logical choice by the San Carlos City Council.   There are key decisions to made in the very near future, most notably the resolution of fire service in San Carlos, which can ill afford to absorb the learning curve time-line required for an outsider.    And the interim City Manger seems to have done an admirable job holding down the fort over the past tumultuous six months in San Carlos.

Congratulations and good luck in your new role, Mr. Maltbie.

Nation-wide search? Okay… he’ll just use Weiss’ play book. Pompous and arrogant if you ask me. I’m sure The Three Horsemen are happy.

And the citizens of SC were the last to be notified. It was on Monday night’s agenda, but no eNotify, etc. I knew about it before you posted it, but only because I’m the kind of geek who reads the council agenda. I don’t always read it when it first comes out, but this time I did.

Not so fast, Council jumped the gun and violated Brown Act among other things…..
