The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 1/8/2018.

This is the first update in what promises to be a very eventful 2018 in the world of San Carlos real estate. Much of the talk so far in the new year revolves around how much, if at all, the new tax plan will impact the real estate market all along the Peninsula. I have read some fairly in-depth analyses of tax plan that take into account ALL of the new changes, not only just those that directly impact real estate holdings. What is apparent from these case studies is that much of the loss in tax deductions on real estate holdings is made up for in a lowering of the overall tax rate.  So for many current homeowners and prospective buyers, the difference in overall taxes paid may only be minimal.

And from the perspective of home buyers, even though the tax benefit of home ownership has been diminished somewhat, it still beats renting…beyond the shadow of a doubt.
