Wheeler Plaza Parking Garage Celebrates Official Opening Today

Even though the public portion of the Wheeler Plaza garage has been open for a few weeks, the City of San Carlos will mark the official opening of the garage this morning at 11AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the entrance to the garage.

Residents of San Carlos have adapted pretty well to the reduction in public parking after the original Wheeler Plaza parking lot was closed to make way for construction of the condo/retail complex.  The temporary parking lot next to Blue Line Pizza often had open spaces available, with maybe the exception of peak lunch time hours. And in the evening, more diners seemed to opt for ride-sharing services such as Lyft and Uber as a way to circumvent the shortage of parking.

While the parking situation in downtown San Carlos is certainly not ideal, it will get a good shot in the arm today with the addition of 252 free parking spaces (2-hour limit).  The details of the ribbon cutting ceremony are below:
