Friday Local Dining: Maverick Jack’s
October 19, 2018
Big Shoes to Fill.
Like many residents of San Carlos, I was very disappointed when Le Boulanger closed their doors at 626 Laurel Street. It was a regular stop for me every week, as I picked up freshly baked legitimate sourdough bread, or had one of their excellent sandwiches for lunch. But like everything else that is changing on Laurel Street, Le Boulanger is no longer a fixture in downtown San Carlos. In its place, Maverick Jack's opened their doors last week.
In a town that is desperately in need of family-friendly dining, Maverick Jack's seems to be a nice fit. Just like their sister location in Burlingame, their menu focuses primarily on burgers, salads, and sandwiches. And for vegetarians like me, there are even two different veggie burger options — including the famous “Impossible Burger.” And keeping with the family-dining theme, there's a separate kid's menu with smaller fare that's popular with the younger crowd.
The decor is modern and open, and it fits the vibe of NoLa quite well, especially in an area that is dominated by Italian restaurants and swanky wine bars. So if you're in the mood for some good ‘ol traditional American fare this weekend, check out San Carlos' latest addition to Laurel Street — Maverick Jack's.
