San Carlos City Council Endorsement: Sara McDowell

October 31, 2018

I normally don't mix politics with the White Oaks Blog, but this year's election is very unique because there are three San Carlos City Council seats that will be up for grabs, since incumbents Cameron Johnson, Bob Grassilli, and Matt Grocott will not be running for re-election.  As such, the composition of the Council will change significantly with this election, making it even more important than ever for residents of San Carlos to do their research and cast their ballots next week.

Sara McDowell is my neighbor in the Oak Park neighborhood of San Carlos, and I know firsthand that she is extremely effective at getting things done with the City of San Carlos.  She jumped in recently and got the city to implement a number of much-needed traffic improvements on Howard Avenue, where prior attempts (including my own!) had failed.  That alone speaks volumes to her tenacity and persistence.

In talking with Sara, I feel her philosophy in managing the growth of San Carlos is right on the money.  While she is not opposed to growth and development, she is a strong advocate of intelligently managing the development of the City so as to not lose the character of what makes San Carlos what it is — specifically, tying in the impact on our infrastructure (traffic and parking) that has suffered so immeasurably over the past two years with the constant development downtown.

Sara also has the political background that is essential to jump into the fray of an active Council.  She has actual Washington DC experience, having worked in Senator Dianne Feinstein's office, and she currently serves on the San Carlos EDAC committee, as well as the San Carlos Education Founation (SCEF).  For more on her background, and her goals for San Carlos, click here.

I'm pleased to endorse and support my friend Sara McDowell, and I hope you will join me in voting for her next Tuesday!
