San Carlos Hometown Days 2020 Canceled.
June 5, 2020
A Victim of Covid-19
Hopes were very high going into the new year for the San Carlos Hometown Days festival. After all, 2020 marked the 40th anniversary of the incredibly popular San Carlos event, and also marked 40 consecutive years without a cancellation. But Covid-19 and the corresponding shelter in place have altered those plans.
When the traditional mid-May weekend for the festival was in clear jeopardy because of the County health orders prohibiting significant gatherings, organizers moved the festivities to late August in hope the conditions would be more favorable. But after consulting with County health officials this week, the decision was made this week to officially cancel Hometown Days for 2020.
This is truly a bummer for not only the dedicated volunteers who spend countless hours every year to put on such a great party, but also to the citizens of San Carlos and surrounding communities who were truly looking forward to a social event that would have served as a small beacon back to normalcy.
Here's to hoping Hometown Days 2021 is a go…
