2020 San Carlos Art and Wine Faire is Canceled.

Another Covid Casualty.

San Carlos has hosted two major social gatherings every year for over the past 30 years — Hometown Days and the Art and Wine Faire.  As I reported earlier on the site, Hometown Days was officially scratched for 2020 for the first time in 40 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Today, word is out that the San Carlos Art and Wine Faire has been canceled for 2020 for the very same reason.

This would have been the 30th anniversary for the Art and Wine Faire, and it has been steadily growing in popularity every year.  The organizers made the difficult decision since it's impossible in the current environment to determine if County regulations will permit the event to take place in October.  Here's the announcement in its entirety:

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to cancel the 30^thSan Carlos Art and Wine Faire scheduled for October 10 & 11, 2020. During these unprecedented times and for the safety and well-being of all, this decision was made with input from city, county and state officials as well as the government issued guidelines prohibiting large public gatherings. This decision was not made lightly and while we are deeply saddened to announce the cancellation, we do this in the best interest of our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and patrons.

Over the past 29 years, the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce and Eckles Events have proudly produced the peninsula’s premier fall festival that attracts tens of thousands of visitors and shines a light on our amazing “City of Good Living” and our vibrant downtown. It brings economic vitality to our community and we recognize the importance of that more than ever, but our responsibility to keep our community safe is even greater. As a sponsor, we thank you for your continuing investment and partnership in this event and we eagerly await the chance to partner in 2021.
