The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 10/25/21

The Recap.

I hope everyone survived the weather onslaught yesterday. Although we desperately need the rain, intense storms like these highlight deferred maintenance and latent defects on homes, such as dirty roofs, clogged gutters, and plugged downspouts. Those alone usually result in unexpected roof leaks, and I imagine there were quite a few of those yesterday. It's a good reminder that there's more to home ownership than just paying the mortgage — homes require a LOT of preventative maintenance against weather events like these, and the cost of neglect is multiple times higher than the cost of prevention.

We enter this week with 16 homes for sale in the City of San Carlos, which is just about the same as last week. This is the last full week of October, which usually marks the end of the Fall real estate market. But with inventory as sparse as it currently is, we could see the hot streak last all the way through the winter.
