The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 5/30/22

May 30, 2022

The Recap:

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. I hope you are all finding a few minutes to relax and reflect on what this day is really all about.

Despite the plethora of bad economic news, the San Carlos real estate market seems to be holding its ground pretty well. Yes, it's apparent in some cases that there are fewer offers coming in, and it may take an extra open house weekend to get the house sold, but homes are still selling. If there is a sense of malaise in the the market, it can't all be blamed on the current economic situation. Today marks the unofficial start of summer, which historically means the intensity of the real estate market wanes a bit while everyone takes a little breather.

In fact Yahoo News reported this morning that summer travel reservations have jumped significantly in the past few months, signaling a return to the normal summer vacation pattern for many families, even despite an obvious uptick in Covid-19 cases. This means that we'll certainly feel a bit of a slowdown this summer, but it's important to bear in mind that a significant chunk of this slowdown is expected, and not a direct byproduct of the financial volatility that we're smack in the middle of.
