The Recap:
The Super Bowl has finally come and gone, and that is usually good news for the local real estate market. Whether its by sheer coincidence or strategically planned, the Spring housing market has historically shown an uptick of listings and buying activity right after Super Bowl weekend. It may sound crazy, but considering that 50% of the country is watching the game, it has the same effect on the market as a major holiday like Thanksgiving.
It's particularly good news for the San Carlos market, because the inventory of single-family homes as of this morning is sitting at 7. That may be good for sellers in the immediate term, but it's not good for the market as a whole because it causes buyers to just retreat out of the market. Hopefully the traditional post Super Bowl uptick will happen in the coming weeks. There is definitely some fire in the current market place, but that will fizzle out if there's no wood for it to feed on.
