San Carlos Blood Drive – Saturday 3/11
March 8, 2023
San Carlos Youth Center
The Stanford Blood Center, in conjunction with the San Carlos Park and Rec Department, is conducting a blood drive this coming Saturday 3/11 at the San Carlos Youth Center from 10AM – 3PM. I'm happy to be able to help publicize this event because the Stanford Blood Center is an organization that is very near and dear to me.
For those of you who have never donated blood before because of inconvenience, fear, or perceived hassle, I totally understand your trepidation. My donation history started only a few years ago at a mobile blood drive much like the one that you'll see on Saturday. I had long wanted to start donating blood, but found a thousand excuses not to. But one day, they had a mobile blood drive at San Carlos PAMF and I just decided to get it done. I was surprised at how quick and efficient the process. It was a very rewarding experience for me, and my only regret that day was that I didn't start donating sooner.
Since then I have graduated to becoming a regular platelet donor for cancer patients, which means I'm in the Stanford Blood Center twice each month to do my share. My goal is to break the 100-donation mark, which is still quite a few donations away — but I am 100% committed to reaching that goal. The only reason I tell you this is that if I can do it, you can do it too!
Drawing for Warriors Tickets
Need more motivation? The nice folks at the Stanford Blood Center will enter anyone who donates blood in the month of March into a drawing for tickets to an upcoming Golden State Warriors game. Whatever your motivation, please donate if you can. Every donation matters! If you're interested in registering for the blood drive, you can do so by clicking here: Blood Drive Registration.
