New San Carlos Listing: 1005 Orange Avenue

March 24, 2023

A Howard Park Stunner

I have been fortunate to have listed some truly exceptional San Carlos homes over the past few years, and my newest listing at 1005 Orange Avenue comfortably fits in this elite class of homes. Remodeled down to the studs in 2016, this stunning home has been thoughtfully re-engineered to incorporate all of the truly important features that today's homeowners want, and I will touch on several of those below. But let's start with the room that most people head to first when they view an open home: The kitchen.

The kitchen at 1005 Orange Avenue embodies the two key elements that all elite kitchens must have — beautiful appointments, and lots of space. And this kitchen scores well in both areas, as you can see from the picture below. The six-burner gas cook top and oven are more than capable to handle the most demanding home chef, and there is a copious amount of elegant counter space for meal prep. There's even a massive center island with a marble counter-top for casual in-kitchen dining, or for just entertaining your guests while you cook (that is a BIG “must-have” for many buyers).

Speaking of space, there's plenty of it here. Along with the loads of granite counter acreage, you will also cherish the sheer amount of custom cabinetry for storing all of your pots and pans. And if that's still not enough storage for you, Julia Child, they were smart enough to put in a full walk-in pantry right in the kitchen. If you score the value of a kitchen by space, layout, appointments and storage, the kitchen at 1005 Orange Avenue is a 10. You truly need to see it to fully appreciate it.

When the home was remodeled, the owners paid special attention to create a more intelligent layout that incorporates lots of open space. When you first enter the home, you're greeted by a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace and lots of room to spread out and relax. The aforementioned kitchen that I was just shamelessly gushing about connects directly to a spacious family room that sports a soaring, vaulted ceiling and a massive sliding glass door that lets in lots of natural light. These two rooms together comprise the perfect area to entertain your guest or enjoy intimate family time.

All four bedrooms in this home are generously sized and are graced with supple hardwood floors (no carpet here!) The master bedroom suite on the ground floor is simply a home run. It has its own private bathroom with dual vanities and a cavernous shower whose opening spans from the floor to the top of the vaulted ceiling (this is a must-see on your tour!). The walk-in closet is already beautifully appointed with built in hangers and drawers, so you can just move right in.

If four bedrooms aren't enough for your needs, the garage has been converted to a 1BR/1BA ADU, complete with a compact kitchenette area. This would be ideal for an au pair, or as a fun game room, or it could easily be converted back in you truly needed the garage space.

Intelligent Touches Everywhere.

As I mentioned above this home has a ton of very nice touches that you don't find in many homes for sale right now. Here's just a partial list:

  • White oak hardwood floors.
  • Granite counter tops and marble island in the kitchen.
  • Inside laundry room with lots of storage.
  • Walk-in pantry.
  • Mud room entry from the outside.
  • Solar electricity (fully owned, not leased).
  • Tankless water heater.
  • Dual-pane windows in all rooms.
  • Central AC and heat controlled through a smart thermostat.
  • Built-in speakers throughout.

As I mentioned above, you just have to see this home to fully appreciate all of the amazing and thoughtful touches.

Location, location, location.

The final box that this home checks is the perfect location. So many San Carlos buyers today want to be in the flats so that they are close to the San Carlos schools, parks, and of course all of the dining and shopping fun down on Laurel Street. From this home, Burton Park and Central Middle School are only a block away and Laurel Street is a quick and flat half-mile jaunt.

1005 Orange Avenue is offered at $3,098,000 and will be open this Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00 on both days. If you can't make it during those times, feel free to contact me for a private showing. But don't wait to see this one — a homes this nice in downtown San Carlos won't last long!
