The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 10/07/24

TWOB-Week-in-Review-02

The Recap:

I contend, through my totally unscientific survey which is based solely on seeing a lot of homes, that the majority of San Carlos homes do not have central air conditioning. That would make sense because our normal climate is comfortable enough where you really don't need it — except for a week or two out of the year. Well, this past week was one of those weeks, and if you're one of those in the minority, then you were happy and comfortable. With the way our climate is constantly changing, I expect most homes in this area will have AC in the next decade.

While the temperature has been hot, the real estate market has been decidedly not. As you'll see later this week on the blog when I recap the first 9 months of this year, the San Carlos real estate market is still lagging significantly behind 2023 in just about every meaningful category. This is perplexing because just about economic indicator is better now than it was at this time last year — inflation and home mortgage rates are at their lowest levels in almost 2 years. And 2023 was expected to mark the bottom of this most recent slide.

But be sure to tune in later this week when I do a deep-dive into the stats that matter for this year.

Here's what happened last week:
