The Recap:

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!

Well, the stock market completed its third straight week of volatility, but this past week showed some signs of stabilization as a few of the prominent tech stocks actually rebounded after two straight weeks of loss. The Peninsula real estate market appears to be largely shrugging off the impact of all of this volatility.

While buyers are certainly lamenting the hit that their portfolios have taken since the recent selloff started, it doesn't appear to be dampening their appetite for housing. Even this past week, I have heard of several Peninsula homes selling after intense multiple-offer battles resulted in nearly 7-figure premiums over the asking price.

The San Carlos market continued to be brisk with six homes being put under contract, which has kept the inventory at only 16 homes for sale as we head into the new week. Four of the seven homes that closed escrow last week enjoyed 6-figure premiums over their asking prices as well, so buyers seem to be forging ahead through the stormy financial seas.
