My Favorite San Carlos Listing of the Week: 3342 Melendy Drive
March 18, 2026
If you're familiar with the topography of San Carlos, you know that as you head westward away from the flatlands, the hills rise up rather abruptly as you cross over the Alameda. That rapid transition upward provides for some amazing unobstructed views of the San Francisco Bay Area.
When you're looking at homes in the hilly neighborhoods of San Carlos, you quickly realize that these homes generally fall into two buckets — those with views, and those with usable, flat yards. For many of these houses, these characteristics are mutually exclusive. You either get a flat yard with no view, or you get a killer view with no usable yard.
But there are a handful of homes that provide you with both, and when those rare homes hit the market, they garner a LOT of attention. That's why my favorite San Carlos listing this week is at 3342 Melendy Drive.
The Best of Both Worlds.
This fabulous home is listed by my friend and colleague, Cindy Liebsch from Compass. The interior layout of 2,480 square feet is super efficient. There's literally zero wasted space in this floor plan. The kitchen flows right into the spacious family room, which is the perfect setup for casual entertaining. And yet, there's still a formal dining area for those more serious, holiday meals.
Here's a quick video to illustrate what I'm talking about:

The four bedrooms are all smartly located sequentially in the hallway, with the primary suite located at the rear of the house so that it can take advantage of the incredible views.
The interior of this home is impeccable. The kitchen is elegantly updated, gorgeous hardwood floors grace nearly all of the living space, and every square inch of the home has been modernized. There's even solar electricity with battery backup. There's nothing that needs to be done to this home – you can move in on a Saturday and go to work on Monday.
But what makes this home such a unicorn is the yard AND the views. You get both. There's a really nice, flat play area with a built-in barbecue just outside of the kitchen that connects to the expansive decking:

But let's not kid ourselves here. These views are what are going to draw you out to the backyard every evening.

These pictures don't do any sort of justice to the views that you get from this home. There are a lot of things that get lost in the translation. You literally need to stand on this deck yourself and take it in.
I've sold quite a few homes in the hills of San Carlos, and I can tell you that very few check as many boxes as this one.
