The San Carlos Real Estate Week in Review: 9/21/26

September 21, 2026

TWOB---Week-in-Review---05

The Recap:

Today marks the final day of summer, and it sure felt like it outside over the weekend. It's also only six weeks until we turn the clocks back and it gets dark earlier. That change, along with the coming of Thanksgiving, has a definite dampening effect on the local real estate market. It doesn't help matters that home mortgage interest rates inched up again last week, with the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage now sitting over 7%. More on that later this week.

Home sellers who currently have their home on the market and those who are still thinking of listing this year should have the Halloween weekend circled on their calendar as a good goal to have their home under contract, because the activity level historically drops when the calendar hits November.

Last week on the blog, I wrote a post about San Carlos Measure G, the upcoming sales tax initiative on the November ballot, and the post included a poll to see which way readers were leaning. So far, the poll results are overwhelmingly against the proposed tax. If you haven't registered your vote on the poll, please do so!

Have a great Fall week! Here are the numbers from last week's market in San Carlos:
