A New Mural is Unveiled in San Carlos.

Celebrating Women in Science.

Happy Friday everyone! If you've been on Laurel Street recently, you couldn't possibly miss the beautiful sprawling mural that is being painted on north wall of The Crepe Stop at 852 Laurel Street. It adds a much needed splash of color and culture to downtown San Carlos, and it has been exciting to see the progress. It was officially completed just a few days ago.

What's just as interesting as the mural itself is the story behind it. Within the mural is a depiction of a stellar black hole that was designed and painted by an astrophysicist from the University of Berkeley. The black hole fits in perfectly with the theme of the mural itself, which is to highlight and celebrate women that work in the field of science. This is in lock step with the other murals that multimedia artist Amanda Phingbodhikpakkiya has painted in various locations around the country.

There is a great article in the UC Berkeley News that has a lot of additional background about the mural itself, and the people behind it. You can read it at this link: UC Berkeley News.

Have a safe and fun 4th of July weeekend!
